WHO AM I?

My name is PT Armstrong and I am now 52 with a great family - my wife and our four children. My story starts back in 1982...

...when I arrived in Australia from Canada with $2000 and a backpack. I had no friends, acquaintances or contacts. In 1983 I obtained a temporary job with State Coal Mines in New Zealand. In 1984 I obtained a permanent job and NZ residency. And in 1985 I got married and was forced to settle down and think about the future. I was unhappy working for someone else and wanted to work for myself - but in what area? ...

I began buying residential properties with spare land, selling off the land, and using that money for the deposit and borrowing the rest from the bank. I would improve the properties through painting and minor interior and exterior renovations. And then rent them out to tenants. 

I enjoyed this work but quickly realized there was not much money to be made. Also we had our first child and we were now down to one income which made it difficult to meet all the mortgage payments with interest rates in excess of 20% pa. So we sold all our residential properties and I began to look for a new opportunity. 

We purchased a mini-golf business in 1986 in a tourist area of NZ. After a lot of hard work and much mental strain the business failed and we walked away having lost all our money and then some.

So I decided to get back into real estate as this was the only place that I had been able to make at least some money. However this time I decided to become involved in commercial property - as this is where it appeared to me that all the big money was being made. 

I obtained a job with a private property development company in 1987 on a commission only (or results) basis with a base pay of $20,000 pa. I was working for P. Tapper, who had been with this company for over 10 years, and had good experience in commercial and residential property development and investment.

I was immediately sent out into the street to knock on doors and talk to tenants to try and lease vacant space the company had. It was a difficult job but it did lead to positive results and the beginning of my commercial property career.

I continued with this company for several years until 1990 when I left this company as an employee. I continued to work for them for another year as a consultant.

From 1991 onwards I began to establish our own commercial property investment company – Everest Property. This was to be for the long term benefit of the Armstrong family. We had to start from scratch with no assets and basically no capital either.

Since then I have completed over a dozen commercial property deals and starting from nothing I am now a multi-millionaire through successful commercial property investment.

My passion in life is for 2 things: (1) Personal development and motivation to achieve our full genius potential and (2) Commercial property investment looking at new deals, putting offers in to buy, closing deals, leasing, developing, managing and selling - negotiating with landlords, owners, tenants, buyers, agents, contractors ...

I have now created enough income and assets for our family’s long term financial independence and I was looking for a new big project.
